The Top 4 Twitter Directories in 2011

Twitter Directory ReadingGetting listed in Twitter Directories is the first way to gain followers.  By adding your Twitter profile to the right categories within these directories, you can increase your exposure to other Twitter enthusiasts and hopefully increase your following as well.

When Twitter came out in 2006, and then became popular in 2007, there were many directories created.  However, over the last several years, many of the directories have disappeared, with only the largest of the directories remaining still popular today.  What will make this article worth reading is the single fact that this is a list of current popular directories. Broken WordPress InstallationIf you are one of those people just like I was yesterday, then you are staring at a blank WordPress screen, where your dashboard should be.  That was me yesterday.  There were a lot of tutorials out there about fixing 2.x installations, but they involved manipulating a plug-in database table, which did not exist in my WordPress 3.x installation.

So, here is the picture.  I can’t get into my backend dashboard.  However, I can see the frontend of my website.  With nothing but my 10 years experience in computers, and my wits, I tackled the problem and won… Continue reading

Google Buzz is Officially Dead

Tomb StoneToday, Friday, October 14, 2011, Google officially announced that they are going to shut down some products the most popular of the “unpopular” being Google Buzz.  Initially released in February of 2010, Google Buzz was supposed to be the social media answer to competing with Facebook and Twitter.

“In a few weeks we’ll shut down Google Buzz and the Buzz API, and focus instead on Google+. While people obviously won’t be able to create new posts after that, they will be able to view their existing content on their Google Profile, and download it using Google Takeout.”,  said  Bradley Horowitz, Vice President of Product.  “In addition, later today the Google Labs site will shut down, and as previously announced, Boutiques.com and the former Like.com websites will be replaced by Google Product Search.”

Other products like Code Search, Jaiku, and University Research Program for Google Search will shut down on January 15, 2012.
